CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

All classes meet or exceed Cal OSHA and E.C.C. guidelines

CPR
This course is based on the EMS Safety Service curriculum and is designed for the general public. It is for people who want the knowledge and skills to effectively act in an emergency situation. Lecture, video presentation and hands-on training teach the student to identify and respond to common medical emergencies such as cardiac arrest, stroke, choking and more. The student will run through several reality-based scenarios to strengthen their skills. The course is approximately 3 hours long. Upon completion of the class, each student receives a training manual and a 2-year certification card.


First Aid
This course is based on the EMS Safety Service curriculum and is designed for the general public. It is for people who want the knowledge and skills to effectively act in an emergency situation. Lecture and video presentation teach the student to identify and respond to common medical emergencies such as allergic reaction, falls, diabetic emergency, poisoning and more. The students run through several reality-based scenarios to strengthen their knowledge. The class is approximately 2 hours long. Upon completion of the class, each student receives a training manual and a 2-year certification card.


CPR/First Aid Combo
This includes all training and information given in the CPR and First Aid courses in one comprehensive session. The class is approximately 5 hours long, includes a training manual and results in a 2-year certification in both CPR and First Aid.


Healthcare Provider CPR
This course is based on the American Heart Association curriculum and is designed for Healthcare professionals that need to maintain a CPR certification for their job. It combines lecture, video and hands-on training to reinforce knowledge of life saving skills. The class is approximately 3 hours long, includes a training manual and results in a American Heart Association 2 year certification card.


Pediatric CPR
Perfect for new parents, daycare providers and anyone who spends time around small children, this class is based on the EMS Safety Service curriculum and covers CPR for infants, children and adults. Lecture, video and scenario-based hands-on skills teach the student how to respond to medical emergencies involving infants and children. The class is approximately 3 hours, includes a training manual and results in a 2-year certification card. Daycare providers will also receive (by mail) the state compliant stickers.


Pediatric First Aid
Perfect for new parents, daycare providers and anyone who spends time around small children, this class is based on the EMS Safety Service curriculum and covers first aid for infants, children and adults. Lecture, video and scenario-based hands-on skills teach the student how to respond to medical emergencies involving infants and children. The class is approximately 3 hours, includes a training manual and results in a 2-year certification card. Daycare providers will also receive (by mail) the state compliant stickers.


Pediatric CPR/First Aid
This includes all training and information given in the Pediatric CPR and First Aid courses in one comprehensive session. The class is approximately 5 hours long, includes a training manual and results in a 2-year certification in both Pediatric CPR and First Aid.


AED/CPR
Automatic External Defibrillators are now public access devices found in ballparks, hotels, health clubs, schools and other public locations. This course will teach you how to identify an emergency that requires an AED and how to locate and use a public access AED. This class is taught in conjunction with Adult CPR unless student is already CPR certified. The course is approx. 90 minutes by itself or 3.5 hours when combined with CPR.


Blood Borne Pathogens
This class is based on EMS Safety Service curriculum and is approximately 2 hours long. It combines lecture and video to teach students about the hazards of blood and airborne pathogens and how to properly guard yourself against them. A 2-year certification card is given upon completion of the class.
